Knowledge Providers - how to work with them
From Regional Knowledge Resource Kit
An important aspect of knowledge management for regional NRM bodies is being able to work successfully with knowledge providers. Workshops in Brisbane on 5-6 November 2007 brought together representatives of regional NRM bodies, science and research providers, Indigenous knowledge providers and local knowledge providers to identify:
- How regional NRM bodies can find research to close knowledge gaps.
- Who are the knowledge providers to regions.
- How regional NRM bodies can best engage with these knowledge providers, including identifying any barriers to engagement.
- How to increase collaboration across regional bodies so they might jointly identify knowledge requirements and jointly fund knowledge providers to close these gaps.
The workshop outcomes now provide a valuable resource for regional NRM bodies who are wanting to engage with knowledge providers:
Science & research providers workshop outcomes
Indigenous knowledge providers workshop outcomes
Local knowledge providers workshop outcomes
The Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Water (DNRW) has also produced the following resources to assist regional NRM bodies work with knowledge providers:
