Call for submissions - actKM 09 Conference

17-May-2009

The Organising Committee is pleased to provide the opportunity for interested parties to submit proposals for the actKM 09 Knowledge Management conference. actKM 09 will be held on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th of October 2009 at University House, Australian National University (ANU) Canberra, Australia.

The theme for this year is ‘Mutate, Mature or Miss Out’, relating to the question of what changes should organisations undergo in an increasingly competitive environment where the world economy is plunged into recession? What can organisations do in such an environment to re-invent themselves and is KM a feasible strategy to enable organisations to weather the current situation and emerge from it with greater capability and sustainability?

“An organization’s ability to learn, and translate that learning into action rapidly, is the ultimate competitive advantage.” - Jack Welch

And where does this place the discipline of KM? Will KM dissolve into general management practice and become irrelevant, will it mature into the critical management discipline that can strengthen organisations in these times of trouble, as many believe it could, or will it mutate into something we have yet to envisage in order to survive? Your challenge, should you decide to accept it, is to bring your knowledge and experience to the table and engage with a discerning and interactive audience to explore possibilities for organisations in the current environment.

We are seeking submissions with a preference for interactive/experiential activities that engage conference participants in a learning or collaborative environment to foster understanding and facilitate an effective knowledge transfer. Submissions are requested by 15 June 2009. One complimentary pass to the conference will be provided for each presentation.

actKM 09 Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts should only be a short document (150 – 500 words) that outlines the activity or presentation. The abstract should have a title that reflects the content and should be succinct. A good abstract will also outline the message or the learning objective and will describe the process that the presenter plans to use to engage the audience. A brief biography of the presenter/facilitator should also be attached. Authors may also elect to have their papers peer reviewed and if so, they should note this in their submission. Abstracts should be submitted via email to: conference2009@actkm.com.

Connecting people to what matters

17-May-2009

Technology and globalization can empower people as never before. The nature of work is changing as people connect in new and exciting ways. At the same time, however, as they race through their days, people can feel less and less connected—to each other and to a sense of purpose in their work.

The latest report in Deloitte Research’s Talent Management series, Connecting People to What Matters brings a fresh perspective to these issues. It offers practical solutions for connecting people to each other, to a sense of purpose, and to the resources that they need to be effective.
