The DIRKS methodology is an eight-step process for agencies to use to improve their record keeping and information management practices, including the design and implementation of new record keeping systems. The methodology is compliant with, and expands on, the methodological framework of the Australian Standard for Records Management, AS ISO 15489 – 2002. It provides a key resource for agencies wishing to respond to the reports issued by the Australian National Audit Office and Australian Public Service Commission in 2002 and 2003 that investigated record keeping practices in the Commonwealth jurisdiction.
