Nerida Hart has worked in the library, information and knowledge industry since 1974 and has experience in public, academic and special libraries and was at the Department of Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA - previously the Department of Social Security) from 1991 to 2006. During this time she was responsible for the management of Knowledge and Information Services serving four client agencies: FaCSIA, Centrelink, the Child Support Agency and the Social Security Appeals Tribunal. It was the only shared service library in government in Australia and served approximately 40,000 clients nationally.

The Knowledge & Information Services team won several Knowledge Management awards during this time. In 2003, they won the actKM Gold award for cultural KM initiatives and in 2005 they won the actKM Gold technical KM award.

Nerida is currently the Program Manager for the Knowledge for Regional NRM Program at Land & Water Australia www.lwa.gov.au/regionalknowledge. This Program was a Natural Heritage Trust funded program which had the overarching objective to facilitate better linkages between regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) bodies and knowledge providers, and to assist regional NRM bodies to better manage their knowledge. The Knowledge for Regional NRM Program won a Platinum Award in the 2008 actKM Forum Knowledge Management Awards.

Nerida has a strong commitment to knowledge management and people development and is currently the Deputy Convenor of ACTKM and has just been appointed Chair Elect for the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Knowledge Management Division for 2009 (the SLA Centennial year). In 2005 Nerida was awarded the Special Libraries Association ANZ Information Professional of the Year.
